A perk of no longer being in education is the energy I used to pour into my kiddos has been redirected into other avenues of personal fulfillment. Don’t get me wrong—I really loved teaching, I loved 8th graders (crazy- I know!), and I really, really miss them.

What exactly is a beach read?

This can mean different things for different people.

I love cookbooks! I love eating! I even like trying to cook. I’m just not that good at it. For one, I’m too impatient. I want my concoction to be ready to eat NOW! Secondly, I’m not exact in my measurements. Since cooking is both math and science, being exact is rather important.

Something I liked to do with my students when we returned from Winter Break was to have kids choose a word to represent what each aspired to do/be the rest of the school year (and beyond, I always hoped).

One of the things I miss most about teaching is building relationships with my students. Middle schoolers are fun and funny, and they have a unique perspective on things.

Who knew that what I taught my kiddos in my old job I would employ in my new adventure!
