Bargain Books

What exactly are bargain books? In general, bargain books “are publisher overstocks or other special purchases. While new, some books may have small markings, slight damage, or stickers showing their bargain price."

At K’s Beach Reads, we have culled the damaged and removed the stickers so that the bargain book you purchase from us is a high quality book. These books are unread and are in new condition. Since they are publisher overstocks and returns, “most books bear a discreet mark, such as a small line or dot on the page edges, indicating their discounted status in the market. This marking prevents the books from being returned to the publisher for additional credit, resulting in substantial customer savings.” Our Bargain Books are half the retail price printed on the book, which makes them a great value for you. When our Bargain Books are discounted further during special events, then your savings grows. For example, Louise Erdrich’s novel The Sentence, (November 2021) a New York Times Bestseller, retails for $28.99 in hardcover. We have it for $14.50. It’s a Bargain Book (a remainder), so it has a remainder mark, but otherwise it’s a new book, unread. For our End-of-Season sale, it’s discounted a further 20% off, so its price is $11.60—a savings of $17.39 off the original $28.99. A trade paperback copy retails for $19.00; that’s $7.40 more than our discounted Bargain Book hardcover.

Although these books aren’t New Releases, in many cases they have been in print just under a year. We make it a point to find relevant and timely titles for you; however, we also choose titles while perhaps dated in terms of publication, cater to the interests of you, our customers.

We hope you give Bargain Books a chance, if you haven’t already.
